Vrooooom! Joy as two Nakumatt shoppers drive away in brand new cars

When Jaston Makamu and Ebrahimji Hamza shopped at Nakumatt, they never imagined that they could one day walk in and drive out of the store.

However, the two were all smiles after becoming the first shoppers to be rewarded with Ford Figo cars, after participating in the chain store’s Christmas Bonanza. The regional retailer is conducting an aggressive drive to double its local and regional market share through an array of customer experience enhancing projects.

This initiative will see the company attain gross revenue of about USD1billion. The firm is currently in a facelift programme for its stores to give them a global standard. Plans are underway for weekly sale offers for basic commodities in a campaign dubbed the Nakumatt Super Savers programme.

While giving car keys to Jaston Makamu and Ebrahimji Hamza, Nakumatt Holdings Regional Strategy and Operations Director, Mr Thiagarajan Ramamurthy said: “We are looking ahead for wholesome growth and we will not be deterred by new entrants into the local market as we are firmly focused on revolutionalising the customer experience on a number of fronts.”

“Within this project, the pilot refurbishment works at Nakumatt Village Hypermarket are nearing completion and we shall be rolling out similar store upgrade works at all other branches progressively from next year.”

The chain store is foreseeing a 30% increase during the festive season as companies are closing the year and giving their workers gift hampers to celebrate the festivities.
