The SkyTeam Alliance in which Kenya Airways is the only African member was recently awarded ‘Airline Alliance of the Year’ for the second year in a row in the latest Air Transport News Awards that took place in Salzburg, Austria.

Kenya Airways MD and CEO Mbuvi Ngunze said that the company prides itself of the recognition that paints a good image on the perception outside.  “We are proud to be rated among the top. More so because this recognition is not just a vote about our product facilities offered, but also combine our customers’ very clear perceptions about our service standards,” said the CEO.

On the other hand, SkyTeam Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Perry Cantarutti said; “Winning this award for a second consecutive year is a great honor and clearly demonstrates that SkyTeam’s customer-focused approach is being recognized by the industry and valued by our customers.”

SkyTeam is the global airline alliance with 20 member airlines working together to offer travel across an extensive global network.  Kenya Airways has had turbulent times in the recent past that has seen the airline sell some of its planes and recently announce a retrenchment that would see over five hundred people lose jobs.
