The Samsung-Safaricom Ultimate Upgrade campaign has recorded sales of over 130,000 smart devices.

The two-month campaign ended today after the two firms teamed up to drive smart devices penetration in the Kenyan market.

Speaking during the handover of the last two BMW 316i to Georgina Wanjiku and George Owino, Samsung senior manager mobile department Simon Kariithi said, “The campaign has seen a huge uptake of smart devices which includes phones and tablets. We hope to increase our market share from the current 60% from next year as we strive to focus on driving sale of handsets.”

Mr Kariithi added that Samsung will soon be launching the latest device on LTE 4G to enable consumers access high speed internet.

Safaricom’s national retail sales manager James Mutisya said Safaricom hoped the smart devices would  deepen data uptake by enabling consumers take advantage of the increasing mobile solutions available.  “We are investing heavily in Network and fibre to ensure that even as our customers purchase smart devices, they are able to access internet without limitations and get value for their money”
