Westlands MP saves the day for AFC Leopards

Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has bailed out AFC Leopards after their players threatened not to attend a Kenyan Premier League match over unpaid allowances.

The MP donated Ksh200,000 to the Leopards cause today and enabled the side to travel to Western Kenya to play Western Stima on tomorrow.

The players were given KES 10,000 each. Leopards are in a serious financial crisis, with the players owed millions of shillings in salaries allowances and bonuses by the club.

The troubles have been caused in part by the falling apart of a sponsorship deal with sugar firm Mumias Sugar, which is also in financial trouble. Leopards are currently placed second in the Kenyan Premier League.
