Safaricom resolves SMS hitch

Safaricom says it has resolved the SMS hitch that had effected its network for the whole today. The company, in statement, says, a core network issue that affected SMS services between 05:00am and 6:30pm today has been successfully sorted out.

The technical hitch meant that customers were not able to send or receive SMS. In addition, some M-Pesa subscribers and agents were also not receiving notifications of their transactions, even though all transactions made during the period were successful.

“All SMS functions are now back to normal,” said Corporate Affairs Director Stephen Chege, who appoitment was announced today. “We wish to thank our subscribers for their patience as we worked to resolve the issue and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
