New Ford Kenya (NFK) Trans-Nzoia delegates have unanimously endorsed the proposed merger with United Republican Party and The National Alliance party (TNA). New Ford Kenya (NFK) leader Ken Lusaka said free and fair nominations of prospective candidates will see the proposed Jubilee Party win majority of seats in the forthcoming general elections.
According to Mr Lusaka, a calculated move has been put in place to ensure that the new political orientation will benefit the entire country. “We must build bridges of friendship with other communities if we are to ascend to power. This is why we are taking the route of merging NFK with TNA and URP,” said Mr Lusaka.
The NFK leader was speaking during the party’s delegates’ meeting in Kitale where more than 5,000 members endorsed the merger with TNA, URP, among other parties. This comes barely a week after a similar one in Webuye that brought together thousands of Bungoma County delegates where there was a unanimous agreement to merge NFK with TNA and URP.
While addressing the Kitale-held meeting, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa observed that Western Kenya will reap big from the new political realignment. “I also invite (Moses) Wetang’ula to join our winning team. There is a lot of darkness in the other side,” said Mr Wamalwa.
For his part, NFK Chairman Trans-Nzoia County Joshua Werunga observed that the convergence of the party members was a historic start.
“We are going to build a permanent house to accommodate all of us who are development-focused,” said Mr Werunga.
TNA and URP officials present told the delegates that they were already on their way to breaking their respective parties to form the proposed new outfit, Jubilee Party. Two weeks ago, NFK NEC meeting held in Nairobi gave a nod for the merger of the party in a bid to up development in the country. “So far, the journey has been good, and people-needs oriented. This will be a top-league political game,” observed Mr Werunga.
Also present in the meeting were Bungoma Women Representative Reginalda Wanyonyi, several MPs, MCAs, party delegates, among others. Trans-Nzoia Women Representative sent her apologies.
