Nestlé today launched Kenya’s first national ‘Nurses’ Quiz’ to celebrate and reward nurses. The Annual Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa (NNIA) Nurses Quiz will be held every 12th May each year, which is marked as the International Nurses’ Day.
During today’s launch, the inaugural ‘Annual Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa Nurses’ Quiz’ was held where The Aga Khan University Hospital was crowned the winner. The Aga Khan hospital’s nurses beat other contestants drawn from Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Gertrude Childrens’ Home, Kenyatta National Hospital, Pumwani Hospital, Jamaa Home and Maternity Hospital and Mater hospitals.
The 2015 Annual Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa Nurses’ Quiz was held to mark this year’s International Nurses’ Day, celebrated globally on the 12th of May, during the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
The contest is aimed at refreshing the nurses’ knowledge (in a fun and exciting way) and also to emphasize and celebrate the key role nurses play in the society. “The Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa provides a good platform for nurses to build their skills, learn from their peers and also keep themselves informed of the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition,” said Prof. Fredrick Were, Dean Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nairobi. who is also a member of the Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa board.
