The Rotary Club of Nairobi East on Saturday installed Rotarian Nana Wanjau as the 25th president. The ceremony saw change of leadership from Carole Kimutai, who has served the club diligently for one year since July 2014.

Rotary International is the world’s largest volunteer organisation globally and has over 1.3 million volunteer members who have formed 33,000 Rotary clubs in all parts of the world.  Popularly known as the Coolest Club in town, the Rotary Club of Nairobi East (RCNE) has a diverse and vibrant membership of different ages and from all races and professions.

Chartered on 29th November 1990, RCNE will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year.
The Club has over 50 members who are involved in various projects in the slums of Nairobi and Kajiado. “Of all the Rotary clubs I visited, Nairobi East caught my attention as it had a lot of diversity in terms of age, gender, classification. Above all it had several projects which were funded by Rotary International,” says Amos Oluoch-Olunya, a Past President of Nairobi East and currently on work assignment in Nigeria.

The year 2015-2016 presided by Rotarian Nana Wanjau is set to organize a team for a Guinness World Record climb to the Mount Kilimanjaro in December 2015 with the aim of raising money for the Rotary End Polio Now initiative; Maternal and Child healthcare service clinics in the slums of Nairobi; and Education Fund for the less fortunate in society. This climb will include other Rotarians from across the globe, friends and family of Rotary from various countries such as Uganda, Ethiopia, Eretria, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Nigeria among others.
