The Director of Public Prosecution has directed for the immediate prosecution of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over incitement remarks he made while at an event in Kiambu County in July 2015.
In a statement to newsrooms, the office of the DPP argues that Moses Kuria who has been under investigations has been deemed culpable and to be prosecuted immediately.
“NCC has recommended that Moses Kuria be charged with incitement to violence contrary to section 96(a) of the penal code,” DPP says. “Upon independent review, the DPP is satisfied that the evidence of the file is sufficient to sustain the recommended charge. The DPP has therefore concurred with NCIC and accordingly directed prosecution to ensue immediately.”

Mr Kuria is accused of directing the youth in his constituency to use machetes against those opposed to the National Youth Service project. The NYS project has for long been criticized by opposition coalition CORD, accusing the Jubilee government of embezzlement of funds.
He was found guilty of breaching chapter 6 of the constitution on leadership and integrity. Mr Kuria had however denied the allegations saying he was misquoted and even accused the media of ‘patching’ clips to warrant his criticism.
