Midcom Group has announced plans to expand its retail operations under its retail brand – Mstore. The company will be investing $50 million (Ksh5 billion) over the next three years in establishing 1,700 outlets across Africa, which will make them the largest mobile and electronics retailer in Africa by 2020.

Midcom Group – with a retail presence across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo – has invested heavily in IT to manage this growing retail operations with strategic investments in SAP and Vend.

These tools provide a backbone for efficient retails operations that are managed centrally by a professional team with vast experience in the mobile/electronics and retail industry.

Midcom Group distributes mobile and electronics across Africa being a strategic partner for leading global players such as Microsoft, Apple, Huawei, HTC, Alcatel and Techno.  “With the Mstore expansion plan, we will create over 10,000 new job opportunities enabling us to leverage local talent backing it with our broad expertise,” said Mr Akash Kumar, Group Managing Director, Midcom Group.

The retail stores are located at prime spots in major cities. Each store provides strategic and prominent positions for all brands to display their units. Brand promoters are also present in these stores to provide guidance to the customers with respect to their brands.

The Mstores also provide technical support for customers facing issues with their devices under its care services offering 48 hours turn-around time guarantee to resolve the issue. The stores generate customer loyalty by providing various value-added services to satisfy and meet the customer needs such as “free screen repairs” for customers.

The expansion plan will see MStore grow its network in Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Togo and Chad. Kenya will get 100 new stores.
