Kenya Airways touched 12-month low of Ksh6.40 and a high of Ksh6.95 on a volume of 476,000 shares, in a day the NSE 20-share index dropped further. Investor appetite has reduced for the counter as the airline continues to face financial problems and stares at more losses. A Ksh4 billion bailout has not been enough to excite investors.
The NSE 20 Share Index shed 16.02 points to stand at 4745.42, while All Share Index (NASI) eased 0.17 points to stand at 162.36. Some 27M shares valued at Ksh569M were traded in 1,500 deals, up marginally from 27M shares that were valued at Ksh560M posted yesterday.
In automobiles, Sameer Africa was up fifteen cents to Ksh5.35, for 73,000 shares, while Marshalls (EA) remained unchanged at 11.90, moving 10,000 shares.

The Banking Sector had 1.9M shares traded and represented 7.15% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Bank & KCB remained firm to trade at Ksh47.00 on 816,000 shares and Ksh58.50 on 119,000 shares respectively. Diamond Trust Bank was down one shilling to Ksh225.00 moved 141,000 shares.
Energy & Petroleum Sector moved 813,000 shares, which accounted for 2.93% of the day’s traded volume. KenolKobil was unchanged at Ksh8.30 moved 289,000 shares.
Up 4.9% to Ksh21.50, Nairobi Securities Exchange moved 646,000 shares.
Manufacturing & Allied Sector moved 1.2M shares, which represented 4.43% of the day’s traded volume. East African Breweries Ltd up two shillings to Ksh315.00 moved 135,000 shares. Unga Group up 8.6% to Ksh47.50 moved 88,000 shares.
Telecommunication & Technology. Safaricom moved 21M shares and closed the day at Ksh16.05.
