Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has opened its first drive-thru fast food centre in East Africa, a new trend that will redefine how ready-to-eat-foods are bought.
The outlet is an extension of KFC’s brand in the Kenyan market, after the American fast food chain began operations locally in August 2011. It has branches in Westlands, Junction Mall on Ngong Road and another one in the CBD.
The drive-thru outlet which allows customers to order, pay and pick up their food without getting out of their cars comes shortly after Cold Stone Creamery and Domino’s Pizza, other global chains, opened their branches in Nairobi. The KFC drive-thru is located along Mombasa Road at the Total Petrol Station adjacent to Airtel and Tile & Carpet Centre.
The first ‘Drive Thru’ model in Kenya follows successful operations in Egypt and South Africa. Headquartered in Kentucky USA, KFC is the world’s second largest restaurant chain after McDonalds and has a global presence in 118 countries with over 18,875 outlets. Its subsidiary Yum! Brands owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
So next time you are on Mombasa Road and you want something quickly to munch visit KFC and your stomach worries will be allayed without even looking for parking.
