Kestrel Capital gets investment banking licence

There is a new investment bank in town after the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) granted a license to Kestrel Capital (East Africa) Limited.

Kestrel, previously a stock brokerage firm becomes the 14th investment bank in the country.  CMA said it had met the statutory requirement of an investment bank after increasing issued and paid up share capital from Kshs100 million to Kshs250 million.

“In addition to increasing share capital, the newly licensed investment bank has been in compliance with all relevant statutory requirements,” read a statement from the regulator.

An investment bank Kestrel will offer advisory services on public offering of securities, corporate financial restructuring, takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and privatization, corporate financing options including issuance of equity or debt securities or loan syndication, promoting or arranging or issuance of securities and providing investment advisory services.
