Worshipers of self-declared ‘god’ Jehovah Wanyonyi have dismissed rumours that their spiritual leader is dead.
Ironically the so-called leader, who had claimed to treat all diseases, had been confined to a wheelchair for close to four years at his Uasin Gishu home. ‘Jehovah’ Wanyonyi lives in Chemororoch Village in Nangili near Mt Elgon, which he calls Mount Zion.
According to Eliab Masinde, the Lost Israelites spokesman, Wanyonyi is receiving treatment in Nairobi as he suffered from back pain. “All that we know is that our god is alive and nobody should ever claim that he is dead, he said. “We will tell you the day when our god will have his last breath, but for now, let us not keep on speculating.”

He said the leader left his home on Friday, July 17, 2015 accompanied by one of his sons and a church member to Kitale to seek treatment. He was then referred to Nairobi for further examination.
His over 1,000 followers strongly believe that Wanyonyi, who has at least 25 wives and 95 children, will one day resurface and tell the world what happened. ‘Jehovah’ once told a BBC reporter that he decide to come personally to earth after human beings rejected his son Jesus Christ.
He also claimed to have brought AIDS as a punishment to humanity for defying his commandments and would send fire to consume all those who do not acknowledge him as God.
