I’ll be back soon, says Wilson Mburu as he leaves KTN in style

KTN’s prime time news anchor Wilson Mburu is among the journalists sacked by Standard Group in the just-concluded restructuring that targeted 90 newsroom staff.

Mr Mburu, who joined KTN in September 2013 from Easy FM (now Nation FM), confirmed his departure last week through Twitter and even released a video on his Facebook page explaining the circumstances for his exit.

In the video post, he says he was retrenched under the restructuring programme, which rendered his position redundant. He said he harbored no hard feelings towards KTN and Standard and would not take legal action against the media firm like a number of others have threatened. He notes that as a businessman, he understood the decision.

Mr Mburu, known for his satirical segment, Mock The Week, which aired on Sundays, says he was unfazed by the sacking, but would be taking a sabbatical leave before making a come-back on their screens.

Other big names that were pushed out of KTN include Swahili news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga and sports editor Joshua Kemboi.
