Huduma Kenya Programme is this year’s winner of the United Nations Public Service Award in improving public service delivery.
Briefing President Uhuru Kenyatta on the award at State House, Nairobi, Devolution and National Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru said the Huduma Kenya Programme was recognised for its outstanding achievements in serving the public.
The United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions towards a more effective and responsive public administration worldwide.
Mrs Waiguru said in the last two years the ministry has won other awards for improving public service delivery including the Customer Service Award, the ICT Excellency Award and the Africa Association for Public Administration and Management 2015 Award. President Kenyatta said the government is committed to serving Kenyans and the one-stop-shop approach to public service delivery adopted by the programme will go a long way towards achieving that goal.
The Huduma Kenya Programme will be feted in June during the 2015 United Nations Public Service Awards ceremony, which will be held in Medellin, Colombia. The second position in improving delivery of public services was taken by Ethiopia who presented their Integrated Housing and Development Programme.
