NAIROBI – As Kenya celebrates the 51st Jamhuri Day tomorrow, Google will commemorate this day with an Independence Doodle inspired by the historic monument constructed in 1973 at the Jamhuri Park. The monument holds great historical significance for Kenyans because it was erected at the spot where Kenya’s Independence from colonial rule was declared at midnight of December 12, 1963.

The two holding hands symbolise unity togetherness, the love heart shaped piece below sends a message of love & patriotism and finally the dove sends a message of peace & stability to all Kenyans.

Google Doodles commemorate major local events, people and key milestones such as holidays and anniversaries that have local cultural significance.
