Coke is celebrating the success of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to mark 50 years of the Kenya Red Cross Society.

Ahead of the celebrations on Red Crescent Day on the 8th May, Coca-Cola general manager for East Africa Mr Peter Njonjo  presented Mr Abbas Gullet, the Secretary General of the KRCS, with his personalised Coke can as well as a delivery of limited edition cans made especially to honour the KRCS’ 50 year anniversary.

The Coca-Cola Company and the International Federation of the Red Cross have a global partnership that solidifies collaboration on disaster preparedness and response around the world.

Together with bottler partners of the Coca-Cola system, The Coca-Cola Company and the Red Cross already work together in over 50 countries around the world, assisting communities struck by disaster. This global relationship dates back to 1917, proving the success of this collaboration having successfully worked together for almost 100 years now.

From humanitarian crises in the north of our continent, to disaster relief in the horn of Africa to water sanitation projects in Kibwezi, the Coca-Cola and Red Cross partnership is one that has truly made a difference in the lives of so many in need.

“We can’t think of anyone we’d rather share a birthday and share a coke with and we’d like to wish the Kenyan Red Cross many happy returns on this special occasion,” said Njonjo at the handover which took place in Nairobi on the 6th May 2015.
