Four presidential security men killed in road accident

Four members of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security team died yesterday in a road accident along Isiolo-Marsabit highway.

The officers from the GSU’s elite Recce squad died on the spot after their vehicle lost control and rolled several times.

According to Gideon Amala, Rift Valley Regional Coordinator, the rear right tyre of the Toyota Landcruiser they were travelling in burst, causing the car to lose control, according to the Star.

They were headed to Lonyangalani to carry out security surveillance ahead of Uhuru’s visit to commission the wind power project on Thursday.

The president and his deputy’s convoys have been involved in two accidents in the recent past.

Early last week, a vehicle in Uhuru’s convoy ran over a 74-year-old man when the president visited Mumias Sugar while Ruto’s motorcade injured two girls in Murang’a County.
