A five-year-old girl is searching for her relatives after the Sunday night accident that claimed seven lives near Ngata Bridge, Nakuru county.

Seven people died at the scene of the accident while seven, including the child, were injured and are being treated at Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital. Nursing officer Lucy Gichuru said they suspect both parents died that night when a fuel tanker collided with a matatu.

The 11pm accident involved a North Rift Shuttle heading to Eldoret while the trailer was headed to the opposite direction. “The little baby, Angela, was brought to the facility with deep head injuries and a fracture on the right leg. She was bleeding and unconscious,” the nurse said.

“We managed to arrest the bleeding, stitched the cuts in her head and put a plaster on her leg.”

The nurse said the child was in stable condition. She did not divulge much information because of the child’s age but said her parents’ names are Stella Ebei and Robert Matende.

“She also says that she goes to Lake View Academy with her sister called Mercy Cheruiyot,” the nurse said.

She added that the girl cannot speak much because of the injuries and that she can only take fluids.

The health facility urged those with information on the girl’s relatives to report it.

“She is in ward 14. The relative will help the child recover quickly,” the nurse said of the child. (The Star) Image Source: The Star
