DStv slashes HD decoder price by half to tap low-end market

MultiChoice Kenya today announced it has slashed the price of its DStv HD decoder by 48% from Ksh4, 800 to Ksh2,499 plus a one month DStv Access subscription.

MultiChoice Kenya General Manager Walingo Chiruyi says the offer will increase access to premium content.  “At that price, subscribers will get a HD decoder bundled with one month
free subscription on the DStv Access Package,” said Mr Chiruyi.

DStv Access offers 50 quality channels of family entertainment combining general entertainment, movies, documentaries, news, children’s programming, music, religion and sport. 

The DStv bouquet also offers unique premium channels such as Zee World, Mindset Learn and Channel ED which is not available on other digital TV providers. Among other channels, DStv Access features BBC World, SuperSport Select, Disney Junior, Aljazeera, National Geographic Wild, Fashion TV and the Free to air local channels.

Also available on the Access package is Africa Magic which offers content
that showcases the best on the continent. “As a proud supporter of Pan-African content and dedicated to serving African people, we are also determined to keep our programming fresh and yet cater to our viewers and support our local movie production industry through
distribution of African films,” Mr Chiruyi said.

According to Chiruyi, this May, which is also Africa Month, DStv is celebrating by offering viewers more of the best local and African music, movies, drama and series for the whole family Ksh2,499.
