The Interior and National Coordination Ministry Principal Secretary could be arrested after her ministry failed to give a petitioner Ksh4.5 million in compensation, awarded to him by courts three years ago. Justice Weldon Korir, High Court judge, on issued orders requiring the interior PS to show cause why former Nakuru mayor Herman Nderi had not been given the money.

The petitioner had asked the court to commit Juma to civil jail should her ministry fail to pay him the amount but the court declined. The judge on Thursday, June 12, 2015 adjourned the hearing of Nderi’s case until June 24, when Monica Juma is expected to appear and explain why the compensation has not been paid.

The court had ordered the compensation paid in June, 17 2014 when Mutea Iringo was the principal secretary in the ministry. The former mayor successfully sued and got the compensation for his arrest on charges of plotting to topple former  Daniel Moi’s, retired president, government.
