Police blocked part of Limuru road on today morning following a bomb scare at the Canadian embassy along Limuru road in Nairobi, leading to immediate evacuation of the premises.

This was after a parcel was reportedly taken to the location in a delivery van and abandoned there. Bomb experts were sent to the place to establish if there was a bomb as claimed.

Police later said the 30kg package contained visa forms.

Motorists and traffic flow along the way were distracted. According to the Standard, Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno says police blocked Limuru road to investigate the alarm.

An alert message was sent by the High Commission near the UN headquarters to all staff advising them to stay off the premises and those not already there to stay home. He said that, “the Canadian high commission is currently off limits. All core business staff, locally engaged staff and spouses not currently at the Canadian High Commission are asked to remain at home. Update to follow.”
