Stop ignoring my calls, Chacha tells NTV journalists

“This is a strange world, so I have learnt.”

Those are the bitter words of former NTV political editor and reporter Richard Chacha who has blasted his former colleagues at Nation Media Group for ignoring his calls.

Mr Chacha, who left NTV in June, expressed his frustration in a Facebook posting today, but did not name names. “There is this category of friends who no longer pick my calls or reply my messages,” he wrote. “For Heaven’s sake, I am not asking for HELP. Just catching up.”

From the post, it easy to guess that those not picking his calls are those he worked with in NTV.  Mr Chacha, who rose from reporter to NTV’s political editor, said he had retired from journalism after accident injuries took a toll on his performance.

Mr Chacha had a glittering career in TV journalism until three years ago when he was involved in an accident that left him paralysed. The accident happened in 2012 when a team of Nation Media Group journalists were on their way back to Nairobi from Narok after a fundraiser.

The post has attracted lots of solidarity comments with the former journalist.

Cammillah Ann says: “Stop stressing yourself with distanced friends. Human beings change like weather. Thank God cz he’s your only true friend, he’ll never change his phone no. He’s there for you always come rain come sunshine. Wachana nao soon they’ll run to u for sensitive help. You are one in a million.”

Millicent Nthoki: “Those were celebs that you knew – not friends. You can count on the rest of us that keep in touch.”

Meshack Mwambi: “Being a friend is easy when times are good or when you benefit from the r/ship. But a TRUE FRIEND sticks by your side even when things get tough. Those are called WOLVES…the sooner you know them, the better!”

Mwita Nyamohanga Riro: C’est la vie mura……You will eventually discover who your true friends are. Living with a physical challenge is not for the faint hearted. I live with it and I can tell you it is never the end of life…..True friends are never in short supply.”

Josephine Karani: “Chacha, now you know who true friends are, very sad.”

Amina Mbuthia:  That’s just how life is, they always thinking you asking for something…i learnt the hard way but now it’s the right to know who is your friend, you only know your true friends when things like that happen.”

James Kinyua: “When I left radio Africa and parliament, my fon stopped ringing….I deleted all those friends and created a new list….3yrs down the line my list if for business partners n not too serious friends.”

Njeri Nderi:  “When I left the media, I lost a whole lot of friends for whom I was no longer useful. Tis the way of the world. Nothing personal I am afraid.”

Dorothy Mwikali:  “‘When you see the genuine, you don’t deal with the fakes anymore.’ Jesus is a true friend he sticks closer than a brother always counts on him Chacha.”
