The High Court today gave private schools temporary reprieve to open until Thursday September 24, 2015 when a case challenging the government’s closure order will be heard. The court order by Justice Mumbi Ngugi will remain in force until Thursday when an inter-party hearing on the cabinet directive is scheduled.
The Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) has gone to court challenging the directive which was issued by the education Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi on Friday. The association officials have sued the cabinet secretary and attorney general, arguing that the reasons for the change of term dates does not affect them.
The Kenya Private Schools Association CEO Peter Ndoro says attempts by its officials to seek audience with Prof Kaimenyi have failed.
