The Nairobi Securities Exchange bounced back yesterday after a 33% fall on Monday as turnover almost doubled to Ksh806M from the previous session’s Ksh461M, with the number of shares rising to 33M against 20M posted.
The NSE 20 Share Index, which acts as the market performance barometer by tracking 20 blue-chip companies, bounced up 18.35 points or 0.41% to stand at 4485.71 points, but st*** very shy of the ******logically important 5,000 mark. All Share Index (NASI) closed 0.08 points higher to stand at 153.10 points.
Sameer Africa was up 4% to Ksh5.05, Sameer Africa moved 1,000 shares.
The Banking Sector had 12M shares traded and represented 37.82% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Bank actively moved 9M shares at between Ksh40.50 and Ksh41.50. KCB moved 2.4M shares and closed the day at Ksh53.50.

The Commercial and Services sector had 231,000 shares traded and represented 0.69% of the day’s traded volume. Long**rn Publishers declined to Ksh6.55 on a volume of 95,000 shares, down from Ksh6.75 posted the previous session. Kenya Airways moved 74,000 shares and closed at Ksh6.80.
Energy & Petroleum Sector moved 11.7M shares, which accounted for 34.93% of the day’s traded volume. KenolKobil down five cents to Ksh8.05 moved 8.3M shares.
The Insurance Sector moved 1.4M shares, which accounted for 4.29% of the day’s traded volume. Jubilee **ldings was unchanged at Ksh560.00 moved 2,000 shares. British American Investments up 7.4% to Ksh16.05 moved 560,000 shares.
The Manufact****g & All*** Sector moved 482,000 shares, which represented 1.43% of the day’s traded volume. EA Breweries moved 68,000 shares and closed at Ksh296.00. In Telecommunication & Technology, Safaricom was unchanged at Ksh15.45 for the 6.4M shares traded.
