NSE share index down massive 33% as trading falls

The Nairobi Securities Exchange opened the week with a total of 20M shares valued at Ksh461M, down from Ksh477M on a volume of 21M shares posted last Friday. The NSE 20 Share Index was down a massive 33.07% to stand at 4467.36 points. All Share Index (NASI) was down 0.16 points to stand at 153.02.

In Agriculture Sector, Eaagads was unchanged at Ksh35.00, for 5,000 shares. The Banking Sector had 7.4M shares traded and represented 36.63% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Bank Holdings moved 2.7M shares at between Ksh40.00 and Ksh42.25.Kenya Commercial Bank down fifty cents to Ksh54.00 moved 1.2M shares. Co-op Bank touched a high of Ksh20.75 and a low of Ksh20.50 on a volume of 3.1M shares.

The Commercial & Services Sector accounted for 1.52% of the day’s traded volume. Kenya Airways moved 128,000 shares and closed at Ksh6.95. TPS Eastern Africa Ltd moved 120,000 shares at between Ksh33.00 and Ksh33.50.

The Insurance Sector moved 1.4M shares, which accounted for 7.26% of the day’s traded volume. CIC Insurance Group Ltd moved 873,000 at between Ksh6.40 and Ksh6.60. British American Investments moved 391,000 shares and closed at Ksh14.95.

The Energy and Petroleum sector represented 2.2% of the day’s traded volume. KenolKobil Ltd was unchanged at Ksh8.10 moved 2.0M shares. KenGen Company Limited moved 103,000 shares at between Ksh8.00 and Ksh8.50.

Manufacturing & Allied Sector moved 1.1M shares, which represented 5.57% of the day’s traded volume. Mumias Sugar unchanged at Ksh1.90 moved 833,000 shares. Carbacid investments Ltd moved 222,000 shares and closed at Ksh15.10.

In Telecommunication & Technology, Safaricom saw 6.6M shares changing hands at between Ksh15.15 and Ksh15.50.
