The controversial University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino may, after all, attend Barack Obama’s state dinner to be hosted by President Kenyatta at State House next week.

Mr Owino, who recently wrote a letter demanding that Obama visits Nairobi University or else some students will commit suicide, received the invite on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While dismissing Owino’s letter, Mr Uhuru told the student leader to instead consider attending the dinner where he can then meet the Barrack Obama. “Wachana na hii mambo ya barua (forget about the letter). President Obama will be free to visit any institution he wishes to. Lakini wewe kuja State House dinner (but you come to the State House dinner,” Tuko quotes Uhuru Kenyatta as saying.

The two met at the official opening of the Japan-Kenya infrastructure conference in Nairobi by Uhuru Kenyatta. President Obama is expected in Kenya to grace the Global Entrepreneurship Summit that will take place on the 24-25 July, 2015.
