Kenya’s leading deal site Rupu.co.ke has joined forces with Visa, the global payments firm, on a six-week campaign aimed at encouraging Kenyans to enjoy a simple, safe and convenient online shopping experience.

Consumers who use their Visa debit or credit cards on Rupu will be rewarded with Ksh1,000 for their first purchase during the campaign period.

“We have entered an age where online shopping is not just about deals and the cheapest price, but also convenience,” said Rupu Head of Marketing Cerdric Nzomo.

“It is about saving time, and avoiding long queues and terrible traffic. Rupu delivers the very best experience in Nairobi and with Visa, our customers can pay for their purchases instantly, securely, anywhere and at any time.

Throughout the campaign period, users who purchase goods or services worth more than Ksh1,500 on Rupu with their VISA card will get Ksh1,000 to spend on their next purchase on the site.

“In addition to the security measures we have put in place, there are numerous advancements that have been made in card security over the years making online shopping safer than it has ever been,” said Visa General Manager, Southern and East Africa, Jabu Basopo.

Visa performs real-time fraud monitoring. This means that every time a consumer uses his or her card, the transaction is checked for unusual activity on the VisaNet system. Customers will also benefit from Rupu’s free delivery service, money back guarantee and dedicated customer support.
