A 30-year-old army officer is the seventh winner of the ongoing GOtv’s Dunga Milli promotion. The competition was launched eight weeks ago.
Receiving the cheque Mr Ernest Mwoya expressed his joy saying that he never planned to buy a digital decoder. “I never considered it a priority to get a set-top box till the kids came home for holiday. I went into the Armed Forces canteen at Nakuru’s Kenyatta barracks and asked for a GOtv decoder as it was the most popular with my colleagues in the camp,” said Mr Mwoya.
Mr Mwoya said that he bought the decoder to quench the thirst of his two children who like watching Nat Geo Wild and wrestling. He says that the children kept nagging him for three months since the anologue signal switch-off, hence he had to budge to their pleas by purchasing a GOtv decoder.
“My kids now enjoy seing animal shows on Nat Geo World and they are also falling in love with Blackbelt and numerous other local programs,” said Mr Mwoya.
The overjoyed army officer said he is planning to use the money in an income generating activity to supplement his salary. “I am planning to delve into the real estate sector by constructing some rental houses,” he said.
Speaking during the awarding ceremony, GOtv General Manager Felix Kyengo said the campaign has succeeded in helping more Kenyans go digital and experience the quality and variety in programming.
“We are helping Kenya to go digital with GOtv to enjoy the best quality programming. As a true migration partner and a leader in the digital arena it is important that we play a pivotal role towards accelerating Kenya’s digital migration process. For a special price offer of only Ksh1,399, including two months GOtv Plus subscription, Kenyans can enjoy the best international and local programming,” said Mr Kyengo.
