Pastor Ng’ang’a is known to many Kenyans as the always-going-viral preacher who runs Neno Evangelism Ministries. Indeed, he is one of the most recognizable preachers in the country, and draws huge congregations at his church.
Ng’ang’a is however also a businessman and has invested heavily in the hospitality and real estate sectors. This week, he confirmed that his Newstead Hotel, located in Naivasha near Safari Centre Mall, was on the market.
Ng’ang’a is looking to sell the hotel for around Ksh800 million. The hotel opened its doors in 2016 in a colourful ceremony. It was previously known as Sunny Hill Hotel before being rebranded to Newstead.
Newstead eyes leisure and business travellers and boasts a wide range of facilities. Among other things, it includes conference rooms, a restaurant, modern gym, swimming pools and fully-fitted rooms. It also sells gym memberships.

It also targets families and has an open-air playground and activities for children, as well as ample parking and free wi-fi.
The hotel regularly hosts events with various themes, including parties featuring DJs and artists, family-themed events and activities for couples.
Explaining why he was selling the hotel, Ng’ang’a disclosed his plans to set up a church in America – where he is also planning to move his family. His wife Mercy Murugi gave birth to their son in the United States and is still based there.
“That is why I am selling the hotel so that I can get enough money to finance the project (US church),” he told Nation.
The Ksh800 million price, he says, is negotiable. He also highlighted his family commitments.
“That is why I have been visiting America many times, to prepare the ground. My wife has been in America since she recently gave birth,” Ng’ang’a stated.
Brilliant idea.
