Safaricom has been ranked Kenya’s most influential brand in 2015, according to a survey by research firm Ipsos. The leading telecommunications firm has been lifted by over 20 million subscribers who use its products every day.

A total of 100 brands were evaluated and ranked across 21 countries in the world. Kenya and Nigeria are the only sub-Saharan countries included in the study, with 36,000 people interviewed all over the world.

There are over 5,000 brands in Kenya, 106 of which were selected for the study. “Majority of top 10 influential brands are young, less than 20 years old, driven by technology and highly trusted by Kenyans,” said Samuel Muthoka, Ipsos East Africa head of marketing and clients.

A wider survey involving 36,000 respondents from 21 countries found Kenya leads in local brand influence.

The top 10 influential brands in Kenya are:

10. Equity Bank

9. Kenya Power

8. Ariel washing detergent

7. Omo

6. Facebook

5. Colgate

4. Radio Citizen

3. Citizen TV
