President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent condolences to the family of late IEBC ICT Manager Chris Msando and Caro Ngumbu.

“We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of Chris Msando and Caro Ngumbu. I join in prayer with their families, and of every Kenyan of good will,” Uhuru stated. The Head of State described the late Msando as a man who sacrificed himself for the good of the country and its institutions.

He asked politicians and Kenyans in general stop any speculation and leave relevant authorities to carry out their investigations into the murder case.

“Let our prayer direct our action. Chris was a man who gave himself to the service of his country, and its institutions. It is appropriate, then, to let those institutions handle the investigation, the better to bring the doers of this foul deed to justice. Careless speculation in this time of grief only makes the work of investigators harder, and it only adds to the pain of those who loved him,” the President noted.

“Let us respect his life, his achievements, and his memory by allowing these investigations to proceed calmly. The Republic must secure the lives, the property, and the safety of its people — and it will,” he added.

Uhuru also called on Kenyans to remain united and not to allow tragedy divide the country as the nation heads to the August 8 General Election.

“But beyond that, we must remain united. This is not the time to allow a tragedy such as this to divide us, to turn brother against brother. In the face of death, we stand strong together: so that we can mourn a patriot,” he stressed.
