Alfred Madanji’s family, the winner of Sportpesa midweek Jackpot of Ksh81,268,545, was thrown into celebration on Saturday night following his win of the highest amount in the midweek jackpot.
The 50-year-old Madanji is a banker who converted to a real estate agent 18 years ago. He is married with five children. Speaking during the cheque presentation, Madanji said that his love for football had made his dream come true.
“I come from a family that loves and enjoys football. My cousin Micah Mwai played for AFC Leopards and another one, Joseph Were, also played for the same team when it was still referred to as Abaluhya Football Club, as a goal keeper many years ago,” said Madanji.
He broke the four-month mid-week jackpot drought, which was lastly won in December 2016 by Geoffrey Chepkwony who got Ksh12,646,353.
To win mid-week jackpot, one has to correctly predict 13 games. This marks the second time within a week that a record payout has been handed out by Sportpesa, after last week’s Mega Jackpot win by Samuel Abisai, who took home Ksh221,331,602.

Prior to Madanji’s win, the highest mid-week jackpot amount was Ksh36,715,204 in October 2016 by two gamers – Bungoma business man Christostin Munoko and Nairobi car salesman Kevin Muhia.
Madanji plans to renovate his home church and give an offering before buying a house for his family. He will also set up rental units for sustainable income. Sportpesa assistant marketing manager in charge of Public Relations Esther Kang’ethe congratulated the winner and championed for responsible betting.
