Apple’s iPhone has beaten Microsoft in global revenue, as reported by CNN money.

The iPhone division would, by itself, become a Fortune 50 company, with its revenue exceeding Microsoft’s over the last four quarters.

It was already known that the iPhone made more revenue than Microsoft during a particular quarter, but to exceed the software giant’s revenue in the duration of four quarters is some feat.

The iPhone made $74.3 billion in revenue for Apple from June 2011 to June, 2012. Microsoft made $73 billion during the same period with their slew of products.

When the next-gen iPhone launches, it’s expected it’ll bring Apple’s share value to $1000 per share, consequently making the company the first ever firm to be valued at $1 trillion.

Apple is set to release iPhone 5 on Wednesday,12th, this month, a gadget that is likely to brew the tussle again in the Smartphone business.
