Thousands of youth from western Kenya stand to benefit from a state-of-the-art music production studio built by the national government to promote local talent and create employment. The studio which is complete and fitted with modern recording and broadcast equipment is housed at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Western Region offices in Kisumu.
Similar facilities have been set up in Nairobi and Mombasa to enhance access to recording studios and create self-employment for artists in the robust creative music industry. Staff to man the studios are currently undergoing training as artists who hitherto travelled long distances in search for such facilities are expected to start using them soon.
The studio is expected to tap talent from the robust Kisumu City and the neighbouring counties and at the same time help market their music.
The studios are expected to be launched officially by President Uhuru Kenyatta who commissioned the project mid last year to promote youth talent and create employment.
