Jacob Juma, the Nairobi based billionaire who was shot dead last night, had a premonition of his death way back in 2015. In his Facebook and Twitter updates, he alleged that some top ranking officials were out to eliminate him for digging deeper into the Eurobond scandal and just being a pain in the government’s flesh.

Mr Juma was shot dead by unknown people while driving past Lenana School in Nairobi on Thursday night and his car was riddled with 10 bullet holes. Nairobi CID boss Ireri Kamwende told the Star newspaper the businessman was driving from his bar at around 9.30 pm when he was shot by gunmen who escaped on a motorbike.

In a Facebook update on the evening of January 26th 2016, he said:

“High voltage intelligence reports reaching me is (sic) that Jubilee leaders have hatched a plot to assassinate me over my stand on corruption. The leaders are so worried about Eurobond revelations and the confidential details that I have on the heist and corruption perpetuated by Jubilee gov’t.”

He said the government was using the Media, particularly the Daily Nation, to portray him as a man involved in land disputes, implying that if something were to happen to him then it would linked to land cartels. Juma drew parallels with the murder of Kabete MP George Muchai, who was killed in cold blood in the city centre by thugs while driving home. Later it was claimed it was a land deal gone sour.

Earlier on the morning of December 17th 2015, he had tweeted President Uhuru Kenyatta in what appeared to be fears over his life. He said in the tweet: @Ukenyatta. am not a coward. I have reached the pinaccle of my life and am not scared of death. I will not run away from Kenya, my country.”jacob jum uk

He says he bought a nine-acre piece of land in 1999 from Jonathan Moi and sold it 10 years later in 2009, yet he had been portrayed as a land grabber.

Mr Juma will be remembered for claiming his mining license was revoked after he allegedly declined to pay a bribe demanded by Former . Balala termed the allegations as malicious.

The businessman also refused to apologise to Supreme Court judge Njoki Ndung’u for claiming she received money alongside Justice Philip Tunoi. Ndung’u refuted the claims. Jacob Juma had also alleged Jubilee used over Sh250 billion of Eurobond money to refund all campaign cash allegedly used in the 2013 general election.
