African submarine cable operator SEACOM has appointed Byron Clatterbuck as the new CEO,taking over from Mark Simpson who resigned last week.
Clatterbuck, who has been in telecommunication industry for 18 years joined SEACOM in 2012 as Chief Commercial Officer, working to drive the company’s revenue growth in Africa and now he will play the bigger role of overseeing operations of the IT company.
“Clatterbuck will lead SEACOM into a new era of growth and leverage his operational and business development know-how to unleash the power and speed of SEACOM’s global network,” said SEACOM’s founder and executive director, Brian Herlihy.
Speaking after his appointment, Clatterbuck said: “Africa is poised to be a key new growth driver for the global economy, and the development story of this decade, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to lend my international skills and experience to a developing company like SEACOM.”
