Kenyan artist’s drawing of popular international comedian and TV host Steve Harvey has got the TV bigwig’s attention.

In a tweet, Steve Harvey said he wants to meet Collins Omondi Okello, a self-taught pencil artist from Nairobi. This is after Kenyans widely tagged the TV host on Okello’s tweet urging him to at least show appreciation for the good work done.

The TV host said that he will be visiting Africa soon and was looking forward to meeting Okello. However, Steve Harvey might not be actually coming to Kenya as he only said he’d visit South Africa and Botswana.

Apparently, Okello was already in talks with Steve Harvey’s people even before the artwork was complete. The Kenyan artist had posted a snippet of the artwork before it was done and that was enough to grab Steve Harvey’s attention. He was, however, thankful to Kenyans for propping up the TV host to respond.

“I am immensely overwhelmed by the response. I am grateful to Kenyans for propping up my piece to his attention. His team is in touch, I am hopeful of what will come out of it; fingers crossed,” said Okello as quoted by Standard Digital.

“Everyone has a God given gift. This is what following your gift looks like, just incredible,” Steve Harvey said after seeing the unfinished version of the artwork.

Kenyan celebrities including the likes of Jalang’o, Alex Mwakideu, and Larry Asego were also amazed by Okello’s work and urged their fans to help get the message to Harvey. Radio presenter Larry Asego even asked for Okello to draw him with the intention to support the artist.

“I don’t know the guy personally so could you do some work for me? That’s the best I can do, apart from a retweet,” Larry Asego said.
