Missing human rights activist Caroline Mwatha has been found dead.
Ms Mwatha, a founding member of the Dandora Community Social Justice Centre had been missing since Wednesday last week and is said to have been investigating extrajudicial killings in her hometown, Dandora.
The activist’s body was found at City Mortuary, Tuesday afternoon.
Reports indicate that the body was booked at the morgue by a private citizen.
According to her family and friends, Ms Mwatha is said to have gone missing after dropping her daughter at school last Wednesday, she was due to report to work but did not turn up.
Ms Mwatha’s failure to report to work worried her colleagues given numerous death threats she had been receiving from the police over her nature of work.

The lobby group immediately dispatched one of its members to locate the deceased as her phone was switched off.
On arrival, the lobby group member found the deceased’s daughter alone which immediately prompted questions on her whereabouts.

Her death was reported at Buruburu Police Station on Thursday.
On Sunday, Amnesty International had raised the alarm over Ms Mwatha’s disappearance and called for an immediate probe into the issue.
“Amnesty has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and National Police Service to thoroughly investigate Carol’s disappearance and establish her whereabouts,” The global human rights lobby group said in a statement.
