Mercedes Benz outraces BMW in the Kenyan market

Six to ten years old cars dominate for both brands although Mercedes has more newer cars than BMW in the marketplace.

A new study shows that Mercedes Benz saloon cars between six to ten years old have a higher demand in the Kenyan market compared to Bayerische Motoren Werke AG saloon cars, best known by its acronym BMW.

Despite this mileage, the number of Mercedes Benz saloons in the marketplace decreased by 6 units to 543 units in March 2017 (- 1.10%) whereas their competitor, BMW, saw their saloon cars in the marketplace increase by 70 units in a month to reach 180 units in March 2017 (+ 63.63%).

The research was done by Data Fintech, a consumer data broker, between the month of March 2017 and June 2017.

Six to ten years old cars dominate for both German brands although Mercedes has more newer cars than BMW in the marketplace.

Following the revelation, Car Dealers are advised to stock Mercedes Saloons over BMW Saloons, as Mercedes maintains the top preference among Kenyan buyers. However, the preference gap between the two brands is reducing in the third quarter of 2017.

Mercedes-Benz is a global automobile manufacturer and a division of the German company Daimler AG. The brand is known for luxury vehicles, buses, coaches, and trucks. The headquarters is in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg. On the other hand, BMW is a German luxury vehicle company founded in 1916. It is one of the best-selling luxury automakers in the world.
