Switch TV appears to be finding it difficult to retain the stars it brought on board last year following reports presenter Remmy Majala has left the station.
Majala, formerly at K24 where she presented Arena 254, an entertainment show, is said to have already taken up a new job after parting ways with the Kenya Red Cross Society-owned entertainment channel.
Another top catch, Grace Msalame, left the station even before she went on air and has since joined NTV where she hosts Unscripted With Grace, a lifestyle show. The news anchor’s profile has already been removed from Switch TV’s list of presenters on its website. She used to present Switch Focus with Nick Mudimba.
The two had been hired to steer the new station as it seeks to attract millenials through “fresh, engaging local & international content, including an entertaining mix of; drama, comedy, reality, sports and current affairs programmes.”
Other celebs it recruited include former Kiss 100 morning show host Shaffie Weru from Kiss 100 where he was in charge of the morning , radio presenter DNG (Davidson Ngibuini) from 1 FM and former Milele FM presenter Nzula Makosi.
Others were lifestyle shows host Nonny Gathoni, actor/presenter Daniel Peter Weke, actor/ model Manasseh Nyaga, life coach Mwenesi Musalia, actress Jacky Matubia and fast rising rapper Kush Tracy.
The exits barely six months after they were unveiled is likely to shine the spotlight on Head of Content Tamima Ibrahim, who some insiders claim has lost favour with most staffers because she likes to micromanage operations.
“Her tenure at Ebru TV where she was the Channel Operations Manager was also marked by a high staff turnover,” a source told Business Today. Before joining Ebru, Tamima hosted the ‘Str8 Up’ show at KTN.

Switch TV is also said to having problems with suppliers. For instance, its contract with Zamaradi Productions, a provider of, among others, TV shows and documentaries, has already been terminated.
