The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) on Monday announced that it is probing Silverstone Air Services in the backdrop of a series of air safety incidents involving its aircraft.

KCAA issued the statement after a plane, a bombardier Dash 8-300, registration number 5YBWG belonging to Silverstone Air was forced to make an emergency landing at the Eldoret International Airport after a tire fell off shortly after takeoff from Lodwar Airstrip in Turkana County.

“KCAA wishes to inform the public that the investigation of incidents and accident is being conducted by the Air Investigation Department (AAID) of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works,” read a statement posted on social media by the regulator.

On Sunday, a Silverstone aircraft hit another plane at Wilson Airport shortly before takeoff. Monday’s incident compounded on the budget carrier’s misery with Kenyans calling on the airline to be investigated, KCAA seems to have caved to pressure.
