Despite topping their group, Kenyan giants Gor Mahia are yet to win an away match at the CAF Confederations Club Championships. They have only played one away match at Angola against Petro de Luanda and lost it 2-1.

K’Ogalo is preparing for what is said to be a tougher away fixture than the one they played in Angola. The defending Kenyan Premier League Champions are set to play Algerian side Hussein Dey in the second leg of the fixture at the Stade 20 Août 1955 stadium in Algiers, Algeria.

Thanks to late goals by Kenyan midfielder Francis Kahata and Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge, K’Ogalo were able to collect three points at home against the Algerian side. They will, however, face a difficult task away from home as their away form has been poor recently and Hussein Dey is also looking for points to gain qualification to the knock out stages.

After the first keg fixture in Nairobi, Hussein Dey players warned K’Ogalo of a hostile reception in Algeria after the players had a tussle at the sidelines in the last minutes of the match. Through their the club’s official social media pages as well as verbal exchanges with coach Hassan Oktay, the visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment they received in the days leading up to Sunday’s game, and warned that the Kenyans’ reception will be “much worse than the treatment they accorded us in Nairobi”.

Gor Mahia Coach, Hassan Otkay, has said that he is anticipating a tough fixture in Algeria.

“It is going to be a tough game for sure, Hussein Dey is fresh as compared to us. We played on Wednesday against Tusker, twenty minutes with ten men as compared to our hosts who have not played a game after the federation postponed their matches. It is going to be a tough one for us.” Oktay told Goal.

He, however, promised Gor fans that they will give their best to see that the team progresses to the knock out stages. Gor has back to back fixtures in North Africa and is expected to pitch a one-week training camp there. The two coming fixtures are crucial for K’Ogalo as they face Hussein Dey on Sunday and then El Zamalek a week later.

In the first leg fixtures, they won 2-0 against Hussein Dey and 4-2 against El Zamalek.
