Over forty off-road drivers are expected to battle it out at Oak Grove, Juja, this weekend as thousands of motorsport enthusiasts, families and adventure lovers gather for the seventh edition of Mud4Fun 4×4 Challenge, a two-day festival that brings together off-road challenges, entertainment and outdoor adventure.
Taking place on August 15 and 16, Mud4Fun has grown from a 4×4 challenge into a major outdoor lifestyle event, attracting motorsport fans, families and adventure communities for a weekend that goes beyond 4×4 challenges.
The drivers challenge each other in four categories – Beginner, Intermediate, Expert and Super Expert – tackling specially designed courses featuring technical 4×4 challenges, mud pits, drag races and drifting displays.
The festival will also offer a range of activities away from the track, including live entertainment, a food village, camping, children’s activities and an interactive exhibition featuring vehicles, outdoor brands and lifestyle experiences.
“We have built Mud4Fun around the idea that outdoor adventure should bring people together. Whether you come to compete, cheer on the drivers or simply spend quality time with your family, there is something for everyone. At the same time, we want every edition to leave a positive impact on the communities and environment around us,” said Kinuthia  Wa Chege, Founder, Mud4Fun.
Environmental conservation will remain central to the festival through Mud4Green, which has set a target of growing 10 million trees over the next 10 years.
The programme goes beyond tree growing by working with communities to improve tree survival through environmental education and long-term stewardship, linking outdoor recreation with practical environmental action.
This year’s festival will also introduce the Young Mud Warriors Colouring Book, aimed at children aged between four and 12. The initiative will use creative and educational activities to introduce children to outdoor adventure and environmental conservation, complementing the wider Young Mud Warriors programme.
For families and spectators, the weekend will include on-site camping, live music, food vendors and brand activations. A “Fan of the Day” award will also recognise the event’s most enthusiastic supporter.
Ahead of the festival, organisers have launched a social media campaign giving members of the public a chance to win tickets by spotting Team Ishara or Uncle Muddy’s branded vehicles around town, taking a photo and tagging @mud4fun online.
About 1,000 spectators are expected to attend this year’s edition, with 22 corporate sponsors confirmed to provide support in both cash and kind.
The strong combination of competitive off-road activities, family entertainment, environmental initiatives and corporate support is expected to make the seventh edition one of Mud4Fun’s biggest yet.
