Samsung opens largest retail store in Africa in Nairobi

Samsung Electronics has moved to further enhance the retail experience of customers with the opening of a new interactive store at Two Rivers Mall; the largest Samsung Experience Store in Africa, which will offer new and existing customers an immersive tour of the firm’s mobile and consumer electronics product portfolio.

Sung Yoon, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Africa said the opening of the new store was in line with the firm’s strategy of re-aligning its business operations in Africa for greater efficiency in the sales and marketing functions with a focus on consumer experience.

“We remain committed to delivering quality products and technological solutions to our consumers in an accessible manner. Customers have expectations and demands from our brand, and the opening of such experience stores will give our consumers a converged experience from both our consumer electronics and mobile divisions,” he added.

At 700 square feet, it is the largest Samsung store In Africa. The store will house consumer electronics and mobile products, as well as a service centre for both product divisions. The opening of this store brings to 29, the total number of Samsung Experience Stores across the country: in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Meru, Nakuru, Thika and Kitengela. Three of these stores are specific to consumer electronics products, while 26 are specific to mobile products.

Charles Kimari, the Head of Mobile Division said the need to have a second store at the mall was necessitated by consumer trends from the first store that was opened in March last year. “Our first experience store at Two Rivers Mall has been averaging 400 customers weekly, for both sales and service related enquiries. This new store therefore enables us increase our product portfolio on offer and also provide dedicated and exceptional services to our customers.”

In celebrating the opening of the store, Kimari added that consumers will receive a 10% discount on all mobile products during the launch.

The design of the store will allow for consumers to interact with a number of Samsung devices that can converge to improve personal user experience and B2B business solutions. At hand to walk the consumers through this experience is a staff of 12 sales attendants and 12 service personnel.

For an inclusive Samsung Electronics experience, the store has various sections that include a mobile zone that will showcase smartphones, tablets, accessories and give customers  the opportunity to try out some of these products at the gaming centre, the home appliances zone displaying washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens and others, the TV zone that will display the magnificence of the QLED television, the service centre and an open house zone where customers can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.
