A small passenger plane carrying tourists has crashed while landing at Ol Kiombo Airstrip in Maasai Mara Game Reserve, triggering an emergency response on Monday.

Footage circulating on social media and obtained by this media outlet shows the aircraft, believed to be a Cessna 208 Caravan, touching down awkwardly and tipping forward onto its nose, with its tail raised in the air.

Responders, including uniformed personnel, are seen running across the grass towards the stricken plane.

A second similar aircraft, bearing the registration 5Y-CMS, remained stationary nearby as vehicles moved across the savannah and people rushed to the scene.

A Kenya Wildlife Service official confirmed the incident in a telephone interview. “Indeed, there was a plane crash incident reported at the game reserve,” said the official, identified as Wanyama. “That is all we can gather at the moment.” The Kenya Wildlife Service later stated that no one on board was killed or seriously injured.

Details remained limited in the hours immediately following the accident.
