Kenyans looking for everything from automotive items and stationery to paper products and industrial equipment have been given another chance to bid for goods through the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) online auction.

The latest Customs iBid auction opened on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 5:00 pm and is scheduled to close on Wednesday, September 2, at 8:55 am.

KRA invited members of the public to log in to the Customs iBid platform, where they can view the available lots, their locations and reserve prices before placing their bids.

“The KRA Online Auction is now live. Members of the public are invited to participate,” the authority said in a notice announcing the exercise.

The auction includes goods stored at different locations, including Nairobi, the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Embakasi and Mombasa.

Among the Nairobi listings is a lot described as Assorted Auto, which has a reserve price of Ksh150,520. Another lot containing assorted stationery has a reserve price of Ksh352,915.

At ICD Embakasi, a lot containing paper products has a reserve price of more than Ksh1.8 million. The auction also features a Nairobi lot described as Cooling System, whose reserve price is Ksh11.45 million.

Other items on offer include wooden export pallets and various miscellaneous goods. Some of the lots carry reserve prices running into several million shillings, making the auction potentially attractive to businesses and individuals looking for goods at prices below ordinary market rates.

KRA’s Customs iBid platform allows prospective buyers to search for items by lot number or description and check the reserve price before deciding whether to participate. The platform is part of the authority’s wider move to conduct customs auction exercises electronically.

What bidders need to know

KRA’s rules require participants to have valid iTax credentials and an active email address. A non-refundable administrative fee of $10 is also required to participate in an auction.

The goods are sold on an “as is” and “where is” basis, meaning successful bidders cannot later demand a replacement or refund because an item does not meet their expectations.

According to the auction terms, successful bidders must pay the full bid price within 48 hours after the auction closes. Those who fail to make payment within the required period risk having their items re-offered.

Winners are also required to remove their purchases within three days of making payment. Failure to do so can result in warehouse rent and other charges.

KRA explains that customs auctions are generally used to dispose of goods that have remained in customs warehouses beyond the legally allowed period or have otherwise become liable for disposal under customs law. Goods that fail required quality standards, are expired or are counterfeit are not simply put up for sale and may instead be destroyed.

Members of the public interested in the current auction can access the Customs iBid platform, review the available lots and check the applicable terms before placing a bid.
