MultiChoice Kenya held its 2022 annual content showcase this week in an exciting reveal of upcoming sports, local and international content that will keep GOtv and DStv customer entertained in the coming months.

“Our flagship local channels in all MultiChoice markets will continue to tell stories inspired by our unique context,” says Ms Nancy Matimu, Managing Director MultiChoice Kenya. “With the World Cup set to stage on DStv and GOtv beginning November, we can say that this is the biggest season in entertainment for our customers.”

Top on the agenda is the upcoming World Cup games beginning on Sunday 20 November 2022 and will be available to DStv and GOtv customers. Local content remains a key driver of tune-ins in the country with Salem and Sanura among other leading tentpole content that customers will continue to enjoy on the platforms.

On top of delivering on premium local shows and sports, MultiChoice’s expanding digital footprint and innovations were an important mention during the showcase focused on enhanced service platforms and the newly launched DStv via Streaming service. Big titles set to stage on M-net and other third-party international content channels were also revealed to offer customers a holistic view of the great family entertainment lined-up in the coming months.

All 64 World Cup matches in local languages

Given that the entire African continent is abuzz with World Cup fever, MultiChoice is making FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 accessible to fans than ever before. DStv and GOtv are not only delivering every single exhilarating moment of the World Cup straight to viewers across the continent but will also be bringing them world-class commentary to enrich the viewing experience. To add value to all our customers, football fans can watch the games in more language options including Swahili.

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 highlights include: 

  • Dedicated channels, available 24/7.
  • The DStv Blue Chair activation, where customers get to take pics on the blue chair, add #HereForEveryFan to their social posts, and access all things FIFA-related via a QR link.
  • Collecting G.O.A.T. digital assets for a chance to win a GOtv subscription or GOcoder to watch the real-life G.O.A.Ts display their skills.​
  • DStv Football Buzz, a new podcast that covers everything World Cup-related, as shared by prominent sports influencers from across Africa.

On top of studio build-ups, wrap-ups, the best surround programming and fan coverage, subscribers to DStv Premium, DStv Compact, DStv Compact Plus, and GOtv SUPA will get access to the full football experience, which includes all FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 matches as they air, with subscribers’ local language as default and further language options available.​

DStv Family, DStv Access, GOtv Plus, GOtv Max, and GOtv Value subscribers will have access to selected games, plus fan coverage, match highlights, delayed repeats, and World Cup news, with local vernaculars available as a language option. DStv Padi and GOtv Value will focus on fan coverage, including team conferences, training related content, delayed repeats, and match highlights.

Brand-new series, gripping blockbusters & exciting international co-productions

Great news for entertainment enthusiasts: MultiChoice will continue to offer viewers innovative, must-watch entertainment experiences through fan-favourite channels like M-Net, plus exciting new international channels being added to the MultiChoice offering.

On top of this top-quality local content, M-Net now has the spinoff of the famed Game of Thrones series, House of the Dragon which airs on Mondays with episodes available rights after the US premier on Catch Up​. Another welcome addition to DStv subscribers is Movie Room, a brand-new channel that offers entertaining local and international movies 24/7.

DStv via Streaming

DStv via Streaming, recently launched into the Kenyan market now gives customers the quickest and easiest way to access content on their television or smart devices without the need to buy a decoder, dish or wait for an installation. DStv via streaming has all the functionalities of the DStv Explora without the need of paying for one! Customers with DStv via Streaming can also access Catchup and Video on Demand as well as their favorite live TV channels.
