Solar Deal to Enhance Access to DStv, GOtv in Rural Areas

More communities across Kenya will now be able to access award winning local and international shows following a partnership between MultiChoice Kenya and X-Solar Systems.

The agreement will see rural communities purchase the X-Solar home system bundled with an option of a DStv or a GOtv decoder. The bundled offer is designed to offer power solutions that meet the needs of off-grid low-income households and businesses looking for greener and cheaper energy solutions while also seeking quality entertainment.

Speaking during the signing of the partnership agreement, Hilary Itela Multichoice Kenya Head of Operations said, with changing consumer and lifestyle needs, MultiChoice is offering affordable entertainment through this partnership with X-Solar.

“Our mission is to deliver value to our customers by making great entertainment more accessible,” Itela said. “We’re reshaping our business to improve our customer experience, whenever and wherever they engage with us and such opportunities allow us to deliver our local content, telenovelas, world class sport and blockbusters straight into homes of our customers.” 

The bundle offer gives customers a home lighting and powering solution consisting of an 80watt solar panel, 6 bright LED lights, a 55Ah battery, 2 USB charging ports, 5 pieces of 12 volt charging ports, a rechargeable radio and a 24” HD LED TV, plus a full kit DStv decoder bundled with one month DStv Access package for Ksh75,200. Customer who purchase the bundle with a GOtv decoder will pay Ksh73,500.

Customers can make purchases via installment payments ranging between six to 12 months via established banks, saccos and microfinance institutions across the country. The bundled offers is also available at leading X-Solar dealer shops, retail outlets, stockists and distributors of renewable energy countrywide.
